A Memorial for Our Fallen Comrade, Bashir Hameed Saturday,
December 13, 2008 House of the Lord Church, 415 Atlantic Ave., Brooklyn, NY
Bashir, a Political Prisoner who had been incarcerated for 27 years, died of deliberate medical malpractice while in captivity at Great Meadows Correctional Facility, Comstock, NY. We mourn the loss of this great Brother, a Black Panther whose fighting spirit never lagged; who, while in captivity, continued to organize, to teach, and to confront the system in a constant battle for protection of the human rights of all prisoners. He remained a warrior in his struggle for justice and freedom, and a leader in his Muslim community. His spirit was never jailed. We urge all who can to join us in this celebration of our Brother's life and to say a heartfelt thank you for Bashir's sacrifice and service for all of us, the people he loved so dearly. The memorial will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2008, at the House of the Lord Church, 415 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, NY, from 1 pm to 5 pm. For more information: 718-853-0893 To
